I homeschool and my two sisters also homeschool. And so, this is more of a, our story than a tutorial exactly, but I am going to share some takeaways throughout that I would highly advise and also some resources that I found really invaluable as we went about doing this. I'm by no means an expert on forming homeschool co-ops, but we've had a wonderful experience and learned a lot. And maybe you've toyed around with the idea of forming a community but felt overwhelmed and not sure where to start. Because of the effect the pandemic has had on our local churches, this has been more difficult than in the past and it was never easy! So although the church has met our need for meeting space, we are setting out to add a playground to meet the need for the nursery kids and students to get their physical exercise/play too. We are so blessed to have found a church to call home for the 2021-22 school year where we can meet for our community assembly and classes. We are comprised of (so far) 37 children/18 families who desire to make Jesus the center of our children’s education. Homeschooling is growing by leaps and bounds all over the country and right here in Cherokee County! Our newly formed Cherokee Monday Classical Conversations group is just one example.
